Red hot! Christie Brinkley, Minka Kelly and Rebecca Romijn set New York charity fashion event on fire in an array of stunning scarlet gowns

They may have all been sporting eye catching red, but tonight's charity fashion event belonged to three stunning stars in particular.
Christie Brinkley, Minka Kelly and Rebecca Romijn stood out in an array of beautiful scarlet dresses as they stepped out at The Heart Truth's Red dress Collection Fashion Show in New York earlier tonight.
Held to raise awareness of heart health in women, the event, which kicked off New York Fashion Week, saw 58-year-old Christie take to the catwalk in her strapless floor length gown

The model strode down the catwalk to the strains of former husband Billy Joel's hit Uptown Girl, with her blonde hair tumbling over her shoulders.
The chiffon dress, designed by Pamella Roland, also featured a shawl and thigh high split.
She was joined by actress Minka Kelly who opted for a more demure knee-length high necked number by which showed off her slim figure.

She also wore her hair in loose brown curls around her shoulders before she changed into a sequinned Diane Von Furstenberg number for the fashion show itself.
The show featured a slew of celebrities taking a turn on the catwalk, with the grand finale featuring an elaborately dressed Chaka Khan leading the curtseys from the stage.
Meanwhile, actress Rebecca Romijn sported a more ornate strapless Marchesa gown, with floral detail around the bust and waist.

All the ladies: The stars in red, led by country singer Jennifer Nettles, cut a striking sight on tonight's New York catwalk
She and Christie were spotted at one point admiring one another's gowns in a break from proceedings.
Tonight's event had some personal resonance for Christie, a supporter of the Heart Truth Campaign headed by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
Her own mother is suffering from serious heart disease, having experienced five strokes and a heart attack.

Dressed in sequinned Diane von Fustenberg, Minka Kelly poses backstage with Rose McGowan
'My parents understand more than anyone about the importance of getting the right care,' she said in an interview yesterday.
'They're proud of me that I've reached a place where I can give back.'
The mother-of-three says she has learned from her parents the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle with daily exercise and a careful diet.

'I make time for this. I used to always put myself on the back burner, but I want to be strong and able for my kids, myself and my parents,' she said.
Many celebrities, some of them first time 'models' took to the catwalk for the annual Red Dress Collection show, wearing gowns by some of the country's most famous designers.
'I've always felt the cat fight thing is a cliché, but especially when we're all together and subject is the heart, we're all united,' said Christie who had a few words of advice for the first timers.

A glamorous looking Rose showed off her slim legs in the Donna Karen creation on the red carpet

'You can't take a bad step when you're on that runway. You're there supporting this worthwhile, meaningful cause. And if you slip and fall, you'll make the news and spread the word even more.'
And Minka had also spoke of the cause before her appearance tonight saying: 'I can’t wait to show off Ms von Furstenberg’s creation and raise awareness at the Red Dress Collection Fashion Show.
'Heart health is important for women of every age, and it’s up to each of us to help spread the word to the women we love.'
